Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Colleagues and Friends of the I.R. of Iran This year, unlike previous years, we are compelled to celebrate our National Day and the Victory of the Islamic Revolution virtually due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. We mark the 42nd Anniversary of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran (2021) that has monumental importance for Iran and its people both at Home and Abroad. This year’s celebration is coincided with the 71st Anniversary of the establishment of modern diplomatic relations and the opening of the Iranian Embassy in Addis Ababa, one of the earliest Embassy in Ethiopia, reminding the importance of Ethiopia to Iran. This year’s commemoration also converges with the 50th Anniversary of the Implementation of the Amity Treaty between the two ancient civilizations and great nations of Iran and Ethiopia. On this occasion, the motto "2021: year of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Amity Treaty between Iran and Ethiopia" will shine on the front pages of the Embassy’s Website (https://ethiopia.mfa.gov.ir/en); its Twitter account (https://twitter.com/iraninethiopia ) and the Cultural Center’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/Iranianculturalcenter) from now on to the last days of December of this year to reminds us  the prevailing in-depth and  long-standing friendship between the two nations. The Embassy also intends, with the support and kind cooperation of the relevant Ethiopian authorities and bodies, to hold  various cultural programs to commemorate the Event throughout 2021 and, the schedules’ will be gradually announced in consultation with the Ethiopian counterparts. The two ancient civilizations have had a history of 2500 years old commercial and cultural ties and the 71years old friendly  relations between the two countries are merely symbolic of the modern and official relations.  Until the reopening of the Ethiopian Embassy in Tehran, our Embassy in Addis Ababa is proud to serve as a two-way bridge between the two nations. And for this reason, my colleagues and I are always available to all Esteemed officials of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and make maximum effort to develop and promote the Bilateral relations that exist between the two countries based on mutual respect and common interests. For the next year Celebration, I am hopeful that the Pandemic will get rid of, and meet you all face to face at our Residence in Addis Ababa. Finally, on behalf of the Government of the Islamic Republic and the People of Iran, I wish all friends of Iran, including all Ethiopians, wellbeing, good health and success.
